C.A.R.L.

C.A.R.L. The Council for Academic Resources and Leadership has taken the reigns from Della Tour as the preeminent provider of tours to Historic Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), for students in the San Jose Area. This organization exposes these students to the educational value, as well as the cultural and historic benefits that are offered by these Colleges and Universities.

For over 30 years, the Xi Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., has been a proud sponsor of Della Tours, and now C.A.R.L. Spearheaded by Bro. Reginald Braddock, these tours have visited Morris Brown College, Talladega College, Alabama A&M, Alabama State University, Florida A&M University, Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, Morehouse College, Stallman College, Oakwood University and Tuskegee University.

In addition to visiting these Colleges and Universities, these High School students are exposed to Black History sites that are not available on the west coast. Some of the sites are: The Martin Luther King Center for non-violence in Atlanta. The home where Dr. King grew up. The resting place of Dr. King and his wife, Mrs. Coretta Scott King. Dexter Ave Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama where Dr. Kings office was located. Moten field, the training site of the Tuskegee Airmen. And the Slave cemetery located on the Campus of Oakwood University.

In accordance, with the second Cardinal Principle upon which The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity was founded, Scholarship. It is our aim to inspire and enlighten young people everywhere, of the value and benefits associated with continued education and various Degree Programs.
